Singapore 2025: Myrtha’s Pools engineered for what seems impossible
How Myrtha Pools transformed Singapore 2025 into a World Aquatics landmark
The World Aquatics Championships 2025 in Singapore mark another milestone in Myrtha Pools’ long-standing partnership with World Aquatics, highlighting the company’s unique ability to deliver high-performance swimming pools under extreme time constraints and in unconventional locations. For the Singapore competition, Myrtha Pools designed and installed two 50-meter pools – one competition pool and one warm-up pool – within a brand-new, purpose-built venue that, while initially conceived as a temporary structure, now has the potential for long-term use also thanks to the durability and adaptability of Myrtha’s pools.
“The event wouldn’t exist without Myrtha”
“Our relationship with the World Aquatics Championships began a long time ago when we installed a pool at Copacabana Beach in Brazil,” said Trevor Tiffany, Myrtha Pools Ambassador and Chairman at Myrtha Pools USA. “It was a fantastic experience for us to have 10,000 people watching a swimming event. No one had seen anything like it before! World Aquatics then started holding special events, and we were the only company that could provide what they needed for these events”.
This early success paved the way for a new event model, enabling Sports Organizations to take world-class swimming competitions into iconic or unexpected venues. “The added value that Myrtha brings to an event like the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore is that we can build a pool in just 3 or 4 weeks. No one else can build a 50-meter pool in less time,” Tiffany explained. “This gives World Aquatics a lot of flexibility—to choose stadiums, arenas, or entirely new venues.”
The Singapore project exemplifies this potential. “Singapore 2025 is not only a special event because they created a temporary building; they did such a fabulous job that it can really stay permanently. And, of course, our pool can stay here permanently,” Tiffany added.
Speed, precision, and coordination
The technical and logistical complexity of installing two Olympic-size pools in a newly built venue within just a few months called for precise planning and execution as Mariano Decuzzi, Site Manager at Myrtha Pools, explains:“We started this installation in the first week of April and finished in the first week of June,” he said. “The most difficult part was coordinating with the other teams working on the construction of the building because the space was limited, but we succeeded.”
Despite these constraints, Myrtha’s engineering and manufacturing precision made the difference.“This technology is special because every stainless steel panel is cut by laser to the same dimensions,” said Decuzzi. “Thanks to Myrtha’s millimetric precision, we meet World Aquatics’ requirements. We always adhere to the dimensions required for international competitions, with a tolerance of just +/- 5 mm.”
A race against time
Behind the scenes, the project was also a race against the clock. Federico Turina, Project Manager at Myrtha Pools, detailed the tight timeline that began with the change in host city: “When World Aquatics announced that the championships would move from Kazan to Singapore in 2025, we immediately understood the urgency,” Turina said. “The timeline was much tighter than for previous sporting events, but thanks to our long-standing experience, we knew we could make it happen.”
The project’s entire timeline—from contract signing to delivery—was just five months. “Six weeks were dedicated to design and procurement, and a further six weeks to shipping the materials. This meant that we only had two months for installation. Even more remarkable is the fact that the entire building was constructed from scratch. Therefore, we had to ensure that the construction programme for the building was perfectly aligned with our own,” Turina added.
Sharing innovation at Myrtha Day
During the lead-up to the Championships, Myrtha had the honour of welcoming guests on a unique behind-the-scenes tour of the pools. They presented details of the Singapore project and the innovative construction solutions that allowed such a complex installation to be completed on time and to the highest competitive standards.
As the World Aquatics Championships 2025 unfold in Singapore, the pools stand as a testament to what can be achieved when cutting-edge technology meets logistical excellence. For Myrtha, it’s another chapter in a partnership that continues to redefine what’s possible in aquatic sports.
