Commonwealth Games 2030 awarded to India: Myrtha at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex

In a landmark decision, the 2030 Commonwealth Games have officially been awarded to Ahmedabad, returning the Games to India for the first time since 2010 and marking the centenary of the Commonwealth sporting movement.

This is an immensely rewarding moment for Myrtha Pools. The Veer Savarkar Sports Complex has been selected as an official venue for the Games, with its Myrtha Pools aquatic facility set to play a pivotal role in the event.

Jayshankar Arunachalam, Myrtha Pools India, National Head-Technical Solution & Sales: “It’s matter of immense pride for us at Myrtha Pools to contribute to India’s Vision of making India a sporting country, by delivering the best of aquatic infrastructure. With now Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, having hosted Asian Aquatic Championships 2025, and now announced Commonwealth Games 2030, and more facilities in the pipeline in the state of Gujarat and across the country, India reinforces its position to host Olympic 2036”

From the outset, the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex project was conceived as both a world-class sports hub and a symbol of India’s growing ambitions in the world of sport. The complex comprises an Olympic-standard aquatic stadium, indoor multi-sport arenas, a Centre for Sports Excellence and community facilities, embracing both elite sport and mass participation.

The complex boasts three state-of-the-art pools: an Olympic pool for competitions, a diving pool, and a 25-metre warm-up pool.

Engineers at Myrtha applied advanced computational fluid dynamics to optimise water flow, ensuring zero turbulence at the surface and maximising swimmer performance. This was no academic exercise: earlier this year, the Veer Savarkar Aquatic Centre hosted the Asian Aquatics Championships, demonstrating its readiness to stage world-class events ahead of 2030.

For athletes, coaches, and young swimmers, this means access to an elite-grade pool built to international standards combining performance, safety (also thanks in part to the diving pool's spray kit), sustainability, and longevity. For India and Ahmedabad, it provides a world-class platform for showcasing emerging sporting talent. For Myrtha Pools, this confirms that our vision of delivering venues that meet the demands of Olympic-level sport resonates on the biggest global platforms.

Myrtha Pools warmly congratulates Ahmedabad and looks forward to welcoming the world's best swimmers to our pool in 2030 and playing our part in creating a legacy that will inspire future generations.
